Many patients want the smarter smile and improved oral hygiene that treatment with braces in Kent can achieve. But people can be put off from making these improvements by the thought of having to spend a long time wearing a cumbersome, unsightly dental appliance. At Staplehurst Dental Practice, we offer ways to realign the teeth that are both visually discreet and surprisingly speedy.
Depending on the complexity of your dental situation, we may recommend one of the following methods:
With the Invisalign system, you will wear a clear plastic aligner over your teeth. A series of these aligners are produced, after we take a detailed digital impression of your mouth. You wear each one of the aligners for around two weeks, before moving on to the next one. Because the shape of the transparent plastic is slightly different for each aligner, your teeth are gradually guided into better positions over the course of the treatment. Unlike traditional braces in Kent, these can be removed during mealtimes, and during your oral hygiene routine at home.
With Six Month Smiles, a tooth-coloured wires and clear ceramic brackets are attached to the front of your teeth. Although these stay fixed in the mouth for the duration of the treatment, the subtle colouring means that it doesn’t attract the unwanted attention of metal wire-and-bracket appliances. At business meetings or parties in Kent, braces like these might go unnoticed, unless you choose to tell people about them.
Your treatment will begin with a detailed consultation. We’ll find out what you want your teeth to look like, and take images of your mouth to help us plan things carefully. With regular check-ups during treatment, we’ll ensure the process is caring and efficient.
After the braces, you’ll probably need to wear a retainer at night, to help the teeth settle. Once that’s over, your straighter teeth will put less strain on your jaw when biting and chewing. And there’ll be fewer awkward spaces in your mouth for plaque to hide in. Overall, your new teeth will be better-looking, and you’ll enjoy improved oral health and hygiene.
