If you have missing or failing teeth, dental implants could be the perfect solution. Staplehurst Dental Practice in Kent offers a range of implant solutions to suit all needs, so no matter how many of your teeth need to be replaced, we will create a customised implant plan just for you.
Dental implants are the only permanent way to replace missing teeth. They are also the only way your dentist can replace the tooth roots, which is vital to preserving a healthy jaw bone. Indeed, it is the lack of anything to replace the tooth roots that leads to many denture-wearers suffering loose teeth, because the jaw bone starts to resorb, altering the fit of false teeth.
Made from titanium, dental implants are placed flush with your jaw bone below the gum line in a small operation, for which most people at our Kent dental practice require only local anaesthetic. Implant placement is usually quite simple from a patient’s perspective, because your dentist will have undertaken a great deal of intricate planning beforehand, to ensure that your implants are placed in exactly the right position to support your new teeth and to withstand all the forces generated by biting and chewing food.
At our Kent clinic your dentist will use CT scans and x-rays as necessary to help with the planning of your implant surgery. If you are a nervous dental patient, have a strong gag reflex, or are having several dental implants placed, we can treat you under conscious sedation.
In most cases, we will leave your dental implants to heal and mesh with your jaw bone for a few months in a process called osseointegration. This will ensure that your implants provide a very strong anchor for your new teeth.
Some patients are suitable for All-on-4 implant treatment, which involves the placement of a minimum of four dental implants being placed per jaw, and a full new arch of teeth attached at the same time.
Otherwise, temporary teeth may be fitted until osseointegration is complete, after which dentures, a crown, or bridge will be attached.
